Explore the Sahara by Camel at Sunset
A wonderful way to get to the know the Sahara is by voyaging the dunes on the oldest way to travel — the camel! Many camel rides in the desert take place at sunset or sunrise when the temperatures are cooler than the sweltering midday heat.
As the sun set, the sky will offer dramatic hues and begin to twinkle with stars. Enjoy riding a camel from either our Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga camp at a gentle pace. When going on a camel trek by night, we recommend wearing layers for warmth and long trousers for comfort.
Enjoy Moroccan Flavors at Night in the Sahara
One of our favorite ways to demonstrate Moroccan hospitality is over a good meal. At our Main Camp stay option, there are luxury desert sleeping tents all decorated in earthy hues. With plenty of communal spaces to unwind, you can dine under the skies with new friends over dinner.
Each meal served at the camp is full of traditional flavors cooked by our local chef with fresh ingredients. Here, you can enjoy warming meals of tagine, cous cous, and stews in the evening, when the camp comes alive with chatting around the campfire, live drum music, and hundreds of candles.
Discover the Stars in the Sahara at Night
While the skies will be visible at whatever camp you choose to stay in, if you’d like a little privacy and the ability to view the sky all night long while keeping warm, we recommend our Dome Tent. This secure tent is separate from the main camp and has an en suite private bathroom.
You and your loved one can experience all the luxuries of camp living in your own private quarters and, through the dome tent, you can view the skies from the comfort of your king-size bed. What better way to enjoy stargazing and cosying up!
Unwind with the Quiet of the Sahara Desert
If you’ve had a long day of travel or have been on several activities in the day, you may just want to relax and enjoy the peace of the desert. Our camps are nestled among the dunes, far from other camps and towns. Listen to the wind blow and relax with a book or a drink.
Another way to unwind in the calm of the Sahara is to enjoy the swimming pool at our Erg Chebbi camp. While you may not think it’s possible to have a pool in the desert, rest assured, it is! Do some gentle laps as night falls before rewarding yourself with a filling meal.
