If your travels start in Fes, our Beautiful Sahara package is the experience you’re looking for. We can also run this tour in reverse, so you may start in Marrakech too. This well-paced tour allows you to live the ultimate desert experience with two nights glamping in the spectacular Sahara desert.
But on this four-day trip, you will also have time to admire the breathtaking natural landscapes of southern Morocco and the rich regional culture and traditions. We will also visit the imposing Todra Gorge, several Kasbah at Ait Benhaddou, and the Draa Oasis, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where you may even be able to ride a donkey.
If you have any pre-booking questions about this Morocco luxury holiday package, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for the answers you need.
Do you prefer a shorter journey? Our range of luxury desert tours from Fes also includes Touch of Sahara and Desert Adventure, both of which are three-day itineraries.
Fes or Marrakech if tour done in reverse.
This luxury desert tour in Morocco is accessible to all with no minimum age – but please consider the driving distances for elderly people and small children.
You do not need any special equipment. However, if you are traveling in summer, please bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. For riding camels, longer pants are preferred over shorts and skirts, and light sports shoes are better than sandals as they may slip off.
Winter nights are cold! We always recommend bringing warm jackets and even hats.
Remember, sand gets everywhere, so if you have some expensive equipment, store it in a zip-lock bag to keep it safe.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.
On this private desert tour of Morocco, your driver collects you and/or your group from Fes. You will then travel south via a winding road under the shades of a cedar forest. People often refer to this part of Middle Atlas as “the Switzerland of Morocco” due to the unusual roofs in the town of Ifrane and the snow. Ifrane is Morocco’s prime ski resort. The forests in this mountainous region are also home to Barbary macaque. This whole area is famous for apple, apricot, plum, and walnut trees.
As we keep on driving, we reach the old garrison town of Erfourd. Around here, the landscape takes a sharp turn.
Eventually, we reach Merzouga where we continue or change our car for a 4WD off-road vehicle. From here, it’s on toward the comforts and luxuries of Desert Luxury camp. Shelter away from the busy world and enjoy the incredible views of the Sahara Desert.
You have a full day to enjoy the Sahara and desert activities, such as camel trekking or an adrenaline-pumping 4WD off-road adventure on the dunes. You can also ride an ATV or search for fossils.
After breakfast, we leave for Erfourd and Tinerir beyond. We eventually arrive at the natural spectacle of Todra Gorge. The walls of the gorge emerge from the crystal clear river, rising high on both sides. The gorge is beautiful any time of the day as the light changes the colors creating a magical effect. We have a chance to stretch our legs here before resuming our drive.
Our next destination is the Sahro volcanic mountains and their superb views! Later, we start seeing the palm groves of the Draa oasis and the adobe villages. We spend the night in ancient Kasbah or luxury villas inside the palm groves.
Today, we depart after breakfast and keep traveling via the valley and the typical southern villages. After Agdz, we start climbing barren gorges that offer yet more views across to Ouarzazazate.
Later, we arrive at Ait Behaddou, the picture-perfect Ksar famous for appearing in movies and TV shows like Gladiator and Games of Thrones. You have free time to explore this beautiful gem.
We then introduce you to the road of Ounila Valley, another spectacular drive in Morocco, especially in early spring when the almonds bloom. Kasbah Telouet will be our next stop, the former pasha Glaoui Kasbah dominating the village. Visiting Telouet takes you back in time and, with a bit of imagination, you can sense the grandeur of this palace.
Then, meeting the peak of the mountain pass Tizi ‘n Tichka, we start descending over the High Atlas to Marrakech.
Tip: This trip can be done in reverse starting in Marrakech and ending in Fes.
