    Useful Information

This tour is accessible to all with no minimum age – though consider the driving distances for elderly and small children. This tour is good for all people ages, only please bear in mind the long distance travel between each destination.

No special equipment needed. Though if you are traveling in summer please bring a hat, sunscreen lotion and sun glasses. For riding camels, longer pants are preferred than shorts/skirts and possibly light sport shoes/tennis rather than sandals that can slip.

Winter nights are cold! So warm jackets and even hats are great addition.

Remember sand gets everywhere so if you have some expensive equipment zip lock bags is to keep it safe from sand grains getting on it.

    Itinerary of the trip

    Day 1Fez – Ifrane – Azrou - MIdelt – Erfourd – Merzouga/ Erg Chebbi

Your driver will collect you in the morning from your riad and hotel in your air conditioned car before starting the long yet beautiful drive to Merzouga, Southern Morocco. We will make a stop in the town of Ifrane that is sometimes refer to as Moroccan Switzerland for the houses having sloping roofs which is not typical in Morocco.

Another stop will be to say hello to the Barbary apes that live in these forests.

Later we reach Midelt where we may stop for lunch. This whole area is well known for apple trees. Then back in car we keep traveling South, arriving to the Errachidia province and the Ziz Valley that is known for its date palm trees. The most expensive and biggest dates Medjoul come mainly from this area.  If there is time and you are interested we can possibly stop in the fossil museum. Later reaching Rissani and passing the famous gate to the famous desert dunes of Erg Chebbi by Merzouga.  Here we travel inside the desert in our 4WD vehicle to reach the camp for the night.

Settle in your camp and enjoy the diner under the African sky and campfire with drum music.

Day 2Merzouga and its desert sea

We recommend always spending 2 nights in the desert. It is a long journey one takes to the Sahara and coming for the night only may just not be worth the while. Spend two nights so you can fully enjoy the desert activities and appreciate the beauty of the desert dunes!

    Day 3Merzouga – Nekob – Draa Valley – Agdz – Ouarzazate – Ait BenHaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Early morning departure from camp for our long journey to Marrakech. At first, we will be traveling the straight road through the volcanic mountains, taking us to the Draa Valley.  This longest and prettiest oasis of all in Morocco is dotted by millions of palm trees and Biblical like villages. We will make a stop in one of the towns for our picnic lunch.

The valley eventually will disappear, and the barren gorges will lead our way to Ouarzazate. We pass this city but will make a stop in nearby Ksar of Ait BenHaddou that is the most famous Ksar / Kasbah in entire Morocco. Then onto the High Atlas Mountains crossing them to Marrakech.

Tip: Return back to Fes if you prefer… Or do this tour in reverse order.
