Marrakech
This is a recommended tour for families with small children. Best time for this tour is in spring and fall but winter is great too. Summer is least ideal.
This tour is accessible to all with no minimum age – though consider the driving distances for elderly and small children.
No special equipment needed. Though if you are traveling in summer please bring a hat, sunscreen lotion and sun glasses. For riding camels, longer pants are preferred than shorts/skirts and possibly light sport shoes/tennis rather than sandals that can slip.
Winter nights are cold! So warm jackets and even hats are great addition.
Remember sand gets everywhere so if you have some expensive equipment zip lock bags is to keep it safe from sand grains getting on it.
On this private tour your driver collects you from your hotel or airport leaving Marrakech behind heading to the ragged mountain ranges of High Atlas on the route to Ouarzazate. This route has been used centuries ago on the caravans route. We will be taking the route along the OUnila valley that is one of the top drives in Morocco full of small villages, walnut groves and almond trees that beautiful bloom in February / early March. We visit the formers pasha residence of Kasbah Telouet and also Ksar of Ait BenHaddou presented on many brochures of Morocco.
Then we pass the town of Ouarzazate and climb the road up and down through ridges descending later into the green lush groves of Draa Valley. Is is an area where time stop in time , dotted by mud brick Sub Saharan Berber villages. We spend the night in ancient restored Kasbah or luxury hotel in the oasis of the Draa.
Today its much shorter drive of only about 4 hours to the beautiful desert dunes of Erg Chebbi by Merzouga. Today’s drive will take us along the valley that will be gone and then peaks of volcanic mountains of Sahro will lead our way to the desert. We will pass some small typical towns such as Nekob and Alnif eventually arriving to the gateway arch in Rissani. Later we start seeing the desert dunes from the road. Here arrive to the camp , settle in and then enjoy memorable camel trek during the sundown.
Dinner and campfire will follow after sunset.
Have fun in the morning in the desert dunes. After breakfast go sand boarding, for walk or just relax taking in the landscape. Then later we depart towards Erfourd and further to Tinerhir continuing to the spectacular Todra Gorge presenting huge walks that rise above the gorge and the crystal clear river. Have some time to explore and stretch your legs. Then we continue to Boumalne Dades and further to Dades Gorge along some strange rock creations and the winding road of red and mauve rock.
We depart after breakfast traveling to Ouarzazate. On our route we pass the Rose Valley and Skoura oasis where we stop to view the restored Kasbah Amerhidil.
