Fes or Marrakech if tour is done in reverse order.
This Morocco luxury desert tour is accessible to all with no minimum age. However, you should consider the long driving distances for elderly people and small children.
You do not need any special equipment. But if you are traveling in summer, please bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. When riding camels, we recommend wearing longer pants instead of shorts and skirts, and light sports shoes are better than sandals as they may slip off.
Winter nights are cold! We always recommend bringing warm jackets and even hats.
Remember, sand gets everywhere! If you have expensive equipment with you, store it in a zip-lock bag to keep it safe from damage.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.
We will collect you early in the morning from Fes and leave the crowded city behind. We venture out into the Moroccan countryside with plenty of fresh air. We stop in Ifrane to take photos of the lion statue – a reminder that the lion once roamed the forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
We also make a stop to view the Barbary macaques near Azrou. The drive is long but beautiful with ever-changing landscapes. Later, we start descending into the Ziz Valley, full of typical villages. Finally, we arrive at Desert Luxury Camp where, after settling in, we’ll enjoy a refreshing drink.
Tonight, you have dinner either in the tented restaurant or outside by candle lights. The campfire will be lit, allowing you to gather around in the company of fellow travelers (if staying in the Main Camp) and listen to the staff playing traditional drums.
We don’t have such a long drive ahead of us today, so we will stay in the Sahara to enjoy the desert dunes as much as we can! After breakfast, we head off into the vastness of the desert dunes on camels with our camel guide and admire the beautiful region some more.
We’ll have a picnic lunch either on the desert dunes, in an oasis, or back in camp. Then perhaps have a try at sand boarding or swim in the tented swimming pool before departure.
When we leave, the road we take is straight without any twisting peaks. We will see oddly shaped mountains and eventually reach the Draa Valley, the prettiest green palm oasis in Morocco. Spend the night in a 150-year-old, restored Kasbah or luxury private villas set inside the palm groves.
On the last day, we travel to Marrakech. At first, we will travel through stretches of the Draa Valley, seeing typical villages where many homes are still made in the traditional way of mud dwellings.
Later, reaching Agdz, the valley disappears and barren gorges lead us to Ouarzazate. We pass the city and make a stop at the stunning Ksar of Ait Benhaddou. You’ll get to feel the ancient history of the caravans and how important this sheltered stop was to them. Then, we cross the panoramic route over the High Atlas to Marrakech.
Tip: This trip can be done in reverse starting in Marrakech and ending in Fes.
