A Secluded and Peaceful Desert Location
Both of our camps are located inside the sand dunes at Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga. There are no other camps in the proximity.
The camps can only be reached on foot, via a camel ride (about 45 minutes to one hour), in a 4x4WD (about 15 to 20 minutes), or by flying in on a helicopter (about two and a half hours from Marrakech).
From our location, you can’t see any nearby village lights. The same isn’t true with other camps in the area as they are often located just two sand dunes behind the road.
Everything about our locations is designed to immerse you in the seclusion and tranquility of the Sahara Desert. You will feel like the tourist path and crowded cities are a million miles away.
Aside from our staff, guides, and other guests, the only people you may encounter are the native Berber Nomads who call this spectacular yet harsh environment home.

Tents Designed for a Luxury Experience
As you would expect from accommodation in a luxury desert camp, our tents are large and spacious.
Your private accommodation consists of two individual tents. One is your sleeping tent and the other is your ensuite private bathroom.
The smallest tents we have are 4 x 6m and come with:
- Handmade Moroccan rugs
- Medical king-size or full twin-size beds
- Authentic Moroccan furniture
- Nightstands and coffee tables
- Full-length mirrors
- Armchairs and sofas
- Dressing tables
- Places to hang your clothes
- Places to lay your luggage
All tents can easily fit 4 beds for a family.
At the time of writing, we are the only luxury camp in Merzouga that offers a bathroom in a separate tented room.
This solution is not only far better for your privacy, but it also eliminates any unpleasant odors in your sleeping tent.
Our bathrooms have flushing toilets, sinks, and hand-held showers.
Amenities such as shampoo, soaps, and premium towels are always provided along with some special goodies.
As a final touch of luxury, all our tents are made from an exquisite white material and sewn by hand!

In our camps, we have tents for accommodation and a large dining tent. But there are many more areas spread around for you to enjoy and relax in.
For example, you can find open-sided tents, sun loungers, hammocks, cushions, and more. There’s always a secret corner to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in your own unique way.

Luxury Desert Stays on an All-Inclusive Basis
Stays in our camp are all-inclusive. The prices we quote include all meals, namely breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And the latter is always a three-course feast!
The dining tent has a cooler full of non-alcoholic drinks like water and sodas that you can help yourself to at any time, free of charge.
You are also free to take the sandboards we provide at any time too. The sand dune behind the camp is perfect to give sandboarding a try!
And there’s even more! We can also include camel riding, Nomad visits, and fossil searching during your stay.
After your trek in the desert, you can retire to the coolness of the open-sided tent and perhaps enjoy a game of chess, or even sit back and read our collection of leisure books and magazines.
A Kitchen in the Camp for Exquisite Dining
Dining is a key part of your stay with us! You can rest assured, we always prepare and cook fresh meals in our on-site kitchen.
We employ a talented chef from Marrakech to ensure that meals in the camp are not just sustenance, but a true delight that you look forward to.
Dinner is always a three-course meal and is prepared fresh in the kitchen.
Breakfast includes a wide variety of different jams (on some occasions, handmade!), honey, olive oils with bread, and various pancakes. Yogurts, tea, coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice are all part of your breakfast too. We also make eggs to order.
Lunch is generally served as a picnic and is a lighter meal.
We can accommodate any special dietary requirements, children’s meals, or cakes for parties and special occasions.
Professional, Friendly, and Multilingual Local Staff
We select the personnel for our camps very carefully so they please even the most discerning of travelers.
Some of the staff come from the Merzouga area; others are from different parts of Morocco. But everyone shares vast experience working in tourism. They speak English, French, Spanish, and some Italian, so communication will never be a problem.
There are always at least six staff members at the camp and, of course, on busier nights, we bring more people to attend to everyone’s needs.
A 4x4WD is Always on Hand in Case of an Emergency
We always have at least one 4x4WD in the camp that is used for transportation in case of any emergency, be it medical, a sand storm, or any other situation.
Owned and Operated by Local Moroccans
Our camps are jointly owned by two local Moroccans.
Hamid was born in Merzouga and has lived here all his life. Abdou spent his childhood in one of the small villages of the Draa Valley and now lives in Marrakech.
They both came from large families with poor backgrounds, so they have a natural urge to help others.

An Eco-Friendly Luxury Camp
Everyone at Desert Luxury Camp has a great appreciation for nature. This is why we do everything possible to make our camps as ecological and sustainable as we can.
We are always learning new ways to make our camps even more self-sustaining and environmentally friendly. At the time of writing, we have already applied:
- Solar panels
- Recycling facilities
- Ecological kitchens products
- Ecological bathroom products
We are also now looking into the use of grey water to lower our overall water consumption.
